I wonder...

I have spent a few days looking for what the 3 General Plan Options say, and I can't seem to find it. Hmm...

Well, let's see what answers I get . City Councilman Nat Bates is suppose to attend a meeting that I am going to.

Here is what I know

There are 3 option. Option 1 and Option 3 are talked about the most.
Option 1 leaves it as open space, and makes it part of the Bay Trail.

Option 3 allows building, both light industrial and residential/ Commercial/ Live Work.
I can find where the plan is before the planning commission.

I have no idea what Option 2 is. I hope I will be able to find in writing the exact language of all 3 options.

I wonder why the exact wording of the options are not available for the public to read.

I was sent the link to a very funny site http://obamawaffles.com/ I am sure these guys are catching all kind of grief, but I think the idea is FANTASTIC.

Am I on a Plantation ???

Hi

Over the weekend I attended my Neighborhood Council ( NC) meeting ( names will not be given to protect the guilty) I am still stunned at what happened.

The City is updating its General Plan www.cityofrichmondgeneralplan.org/

There are 3 option before the city regarding land use close to where my neighborhood is. Seems like this has been going on for quite a while, and I found out about it over the summer.
There were supposedly informational meetings telling everyone about the General Plan update. I wonder what rock I was under not to hear about it. ( no comment)

I was asked to attend the meeting in August. I ended up walking out with a headache after about 20 minutes.

There are people who are on the " Executive Council" that should not be there, they do not "live" in the neighborhood, but have business interest in the surrounding area. Is every one ignorant of Roberts Rules of Order ? http://www.robertsrules.com/

Since when are you able to vote on any motion that " Personally " involves you ? I have been President of several Organizations and always recused myself from voting on anything that directly effected me. When that was brought up, things got kind of heated, and then tabled.

So the meeting this past weekend, We were told that the General Plan and the update was to complicated, and way to much to try and understand. And we really should not be voting on something that will effect the whole city. Then we were presented with a document from 2006 saying what the neighborhood wanted then and to adopt this as our official position. While I was trying to read the 2 page, back and front document, the vote was rammed through.

Now, I think I am of reasonable intelligence. I have a Real Estate License, and have worked in Commercial Real Estate. Given time, I think I along with most people could read and understand the 3 Options before us, and figure out which one would be the best for us.

Kinds of make me wonder if I am on a plantation. I am being told that I don't have the capacity to read a document, understand it and form an opinion as to if this would be good or not.

Could I be dealing with Liberals ??? Hmm...

And so it begins

Greetings from the Funny Farm. I say that because I am a oddity.
A Conservative Republican, who just happens to be a Black Female. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Well needless to say my views are not popular here.

There are lots of things that are happening and since what I have to say is not important to most of the people around me, I decided to blog.

I wanted to instill the same values in my Daughter that my parents( I miss them both very much) instilled in me. So, I make the sacrifice to Homeschool , monitor TV viewing, and the people she is around.

For this I catch TONS of grief from Family members, and others " who mean well".

I became a republican because of my Dad. He was a registered Democrat, but ALWAYS voted Republican. I never understood why, but he did. He always told me to be my own person, and think for myself, and not follow the crowd, because it is the thing to do. He was a great fan of Ronald Regan. I wish he had lived long enough to see him become the greatest President in my life time.

This will not always be about Politics, the topics can and will vary.
